The discussion of the books by scholar Bat Ye'or continued at the table this a.m.  Her latest book is Eurabia: The Euro-Arab Axis published in 2005.  Some were under the mistaken impression that this book had not been published yet.

The Dhimmi: Jews and Christians Under Islam (1985) is excellent history with more than half of the pages composed of primary sources supporting the narrative.

The Decline of Eastern Christianity Under Islam: From Jihad to Dhimmitude, Seventh to the Twentieth Century (1996), covers an interesting period because it begins when there seemed to be a spiritual vacuum in the Middle East, coinciding with a growing division between Eastern and Western Christianity, when the founder of Islam claimed to be the last prophet of God's revelation.
